just a little hello
Thought I should post something before we head off to camp...
Last Saturday we had a PT (Physical Training) Challenge which went very well and I'll be posting pics of that ASAP (which will be after Summer Camp).
As some of you may know this afternoon the Unit is heading to a top-secret Campsite to hold our Annual Summer Camp. This year the Summer Camp is going to be utilized as a Boot Camp for the M-Coy and will also include their Graduation Exercise.
The main aim of the Boot Camp is for the Recruits to practice the skills which they have learnt during the Basic Training; in the form of Activities which will teach them more about themselves and will also give them a whole lot of fun. The Camp also places alot of importance on the Recruits taking care of themselves, their kit and each other, since after this Activity (those that pass the Gradex) will be Venture Scouts and expected to take care of themselves in the field. Stuff like good personal hygiene, good nutrition, proper clothing and sleeping conditions are stressed upon at the Boot Camp.
After the Boot Camp the Gradex will begin. This is a sort of 'Test' composed of many sections; the written tests, a Day Navigation Exercise (NAVEX), a Night Navex and a Medevac. There also is a pioneering section (which will take place at Boot Camp) and a couple of other requirements for the V-Badge.
The Boys have been preparing for the Gradex since the Training began in June and they are quite looking forward to it!
