Graduation Exercise

5 Recruits completed the Gradex last weekend (22nd/23rd Sept). The navex routes took across all Malta putting their navigation skills and trekking technique to the test!

Along the Day nav route they had to complete several incident points spanning the basic skills & after completing the night navex they all took part in a very interesting medevac scene which involved an armed gunman and several hostages.

Our next activity is a End of Summer BBQ with the rest of the sliema group down at the boat house... should be loads of fun!

SVS Bootcamp & Navex 3 2007

I'm back from an amazing Summer Camp with the Sliema Venture Scouts. We spent 5 intense days in the field during which the RVSs got a chance to try out some new things and practice their basic skills.

Llama on the lift

We built a lift mechanism as a pioneering structure, went climbing and abseiling at Wied Iz-Zurrieq, explored the shelters underneath the campsite, went Canoiing at Little Armier and did a Recce in Delimara.

We also got a visit from a Judo master who taught us various techniques (and also some dirty moves).

We also had some down time during which to mix and let off some stea. These included SVS Hotchocolate night, a pasta night, a pizza making competition & a BBQ.

The programme was completely packed with activities and it was literally a 5 day non stop event which had many nice suprises throughout. On the 5th night the RVSs took part in their last training Navex before the Graduation Exercise which is to take place next weekend (22nd/23rd).

we got the wheels turning again but i tink they're turning too fast!

The SVS are back on the move, some of the guys are finishing off their Maltese O-level Resits today and then we're all off camping for 5 days. Yep that's right! The SVS Summer Camp is only 2 days away. That means Venture Scouts are out there somewhere preparing their map kits, first aid kits, camo gear and polishing their boots for what is to be another exciting and challenging activity for them.

We haven't been exactly sleepin' since Training Camp. Last Friday the N-Coy crossed the line from the Troop to the Unit and theyr'e all geared up for the intense programme that awaits them. After the Crossing we went out for a pizza which was followed by a NOS activity, to celebrate the moving of our new members into our Unit.

On Saturday we held a training Abseil for the VSL at 'Top of the World' with AGSL Andrew as instructor and Abela & Luca as helpers (they got a chance to jump too!)

Camp starts on Friday and everyone's a bit curious to what's in store... I can't let anything out now but i assure you it will be adventurous.
