Mudcycle '06

The Unit before they got messy

On Sunday the Unit held the Traditional SVS - Mud - Cycling Activity;
The Unit rents bikes and takes them to the Pembroke ranges where they try out several death - defying stunts and mess around in the big puddles of mud.

The Unit in one of the Puddles

Thanks to all the rain we had last week, there were loads of puddles and lots of mud. it was perfect weather for cycling, nice and sunny but still lots of mud :-)

Debono & Munir playing chicken in a puddle of Mud

Munir gained alot out of the activity since he didn't really know how to ride a bike but now he seems to manage quite well and kept up with the rest of us quite well... Prosit Munir!!

Although he did fall a few times!

This is the Picture of the Day:
Look at this closely... it is an action shot and Jolen is in Mid-flight! Doesn't look very comfortable!

The day was very well spent...
For the next few months the Unit will be in hibernation because of Exams.
Even though the members might spend the next few months away from Ventures I will be in deep thought, planning and preparing for Summer, the Basic Training and The Gradex... because you ought to know... Tigers Never Hibernate

bye bye,
for now

They Crossed the Line!!!!!!

Last Friday (13th January) 5 Scouts crossed the line, moving from the Troop to the Unit.

The now Recruit Venture Scouts; Ian Abela, Jolen Galea, Munir Al Faitury, Andrea Gerada & Simon Corrieri, bravely jumped over the rope to fall in beside the rest of the Unit.

Before the Crossing of the Line Ceremony there was a Troop Investiture which i watched and took many photos of.

The Recruits had been attending both Unit & Troop meetings/Activities for a month.
They will Attend Unit meetings as regular Venture Scouts and will begin their Basic Training in July. If they pass their Graduation Exercise (which is usually held in September) they will be promoted to Venture Scouts.

After the Crossing we went out to Eat at TGI. Where we all ate too much.

The VSL & AVSL are currently training for the Half Marathon which is to be held on the 5th of March. The Unit Members and I are collecting sponsorship money which will go towards the Unit.

The Next Activity is a Mudcycling Activity, something we haven't done since '04!
It's always a lot of fun, even for the people that can't cycle.

see you there,
